Camu-Camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a white-flowering shrub from the myrtle family, which is native to the western Amazon region, mainly Peru and Brazil.
The Camu-Camu fruit is a spherical berry 10 to 40 mm in diameter and is red to purple in color with usually 2 seeds. Together with the acerola cherry, it is one of the most vitamin C-rich plants on earth and has an exceptionally high concentration of phytochemicals.
For daily use: Camu-Camu can simply be stirred into yoghurt, muesli or a drink, e.g. fruit juice or vegetable juice.
For industrial use: Camu-Camu is suitable for adding to food supplements in the form of powder mixtures, tablets, capsules etc.
Natural vitamin C | Camu-camu is - alongside acerola - one of the fruits richest in vitamin C. The fresh berry contains approx. 1380-1490 mg/100 g ascorbic acid in the flesh and approx. 2050 mg/100 g in the skin. Our powder has a vitamin C content of 8,000-10,000 mg. |
Other ingredients | The chemical composition of camu-camu also includes anthocyanins (e.g. myrtillin), flavonols, ellagitannins (contain gallic acid), proanthocyanidins and carotenoids. |
Effect of vitamin C | The effects of vitamin C that have been tested and scientifically proven by the EFSA include the following: - contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal psychological function, to normal energy metabolism, to normal function of the immune system (physical defense), to normal function of the nervous system, - contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, - contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, teeth, gums and skin, - increases the absorption of iron. |
Antioxidant | The antioxidant properties of camu-camu are based on the interaction of its high vitamin C content and a variety of polyphenols, which together help to protect the body from oxidative stress. Various studies confirm the antioxidant effects of the ingredients in the camu-camu fruit: |
100 % natural and raw food quality | Camu-camu berries can be processed into fruit powder without any carriers or strong heating. |

We buy our raw materials directly from the producers,

In the Amazon region, the camu-camu bushes grow directly on the banks of the river. The fruit can only be harvested by boat twice a year, between November and January and between March and May, when the water level is favorable, which is very laborious and time-limited.
In order to meet the increasing demand and guarantee relatively good availability, our Peruvian producer also planted more easily accessible bushes inland.
In order to preserve the valuable ingredients of freshly harvested camu-camu fruits from the Amazon region, they are collected in ice boxes and immediately transported to the production site.
The fruit is first cleaned with water at the production facility. Only the best fruits are then sorted out by hand by the producer for further processing and cored.
The pulp is gently dried in special drying facilities at a maximum temperature of 35 degrees for 6-8 hours and then ground into a fine powder.
Finally, the powder is filled into sacks and stored at around 4 degrees.
After production, a sample is taken and tested in the laboratory. Only after confirmation of compliance with the specified criteria is the product released for sale.
The camu-camu plant belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). In Brazil, the fruit is also called "Caçari" or "Araçá de água", in other countries the camu-camu fruit is also known as "Bayberry Fruit" or "Rumberry".
Our camu-camu berries come from wild growth and organic cultivation. This combination is important so that the wild-growing fruits are not completely harvested, which would be tantamount to eradicating this valuable plant.
There are cultivation projects in Peru to stop the overexploitation of wild camu-camu plants so that fish species such as the tambaquí, which feed on the fruit, do not disappear.
Due to its extreme taste, ranging from sour to bitter, most of our customers prefer acerola powder for direct consumption as a source of vitamins. For this reason, we currently only offer camu-camu in bulk for producers who process the powder in other products.
However, we also offer camu-camu powder in 1 kg bags.
Ripe and unripe fruit are used in a balanced ratio.
Both fruits contain natural vitamin C - acerola between 17% - 30% (depending on the concentration of the fruit) and camu-camu powder between 3 - 10%.
Our acerola powder is available as a spray-dried powder with the carrier maltodextrin or as a freeze-dried powder without carrier, i.e. 100% pure.
Camu-camu powder is also produced without a carrier, with a vitamin C content of approx. 8 - 10%, depending on the degree of ripeness.
Camu-camu fruits consist of around 80 % pulp and 20 % seeds. This natural composition, i.e. pulp and seeds together, contains all the important nutrients and should not be separated. Our camu-camu powder is therefore made from the whole fruit.
Just like acerola, camu-camu is an ideal source of vitamin C. Vitamin C from fruit or vegetables is always found together with secondary plant substances that enhance the effect of vitamin C in the body.
The term "vitamin" is derived from the Latin word "vita" and means "life".
A distinction is made between fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin C, must be taken regularly - ideally daily - as they cannot be stored by the body in the long term.
According to the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the daily requirement for vitamin C is between 90 and 110 mg for adolescents aged 15 and over and adults. Even with an increased vitamin C requirement, such as in stressful situations, heavy physical work, for smokers (they need approx. 40 % more vitamin C), there are no negative long-term consequences or side effects. People with kidney dysfunction or a higher risk of urinary stones should not exceed the recommended daily amount.
Camu-camu is fruity and sour and is reminiscent of a lemon with a slightly bitter note.
Stir 1 g powder (1/2 teaspoon) = approx. 100 mg vitamin C (corresponds to 125% NRV) daily into muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad or any drink (water, fruit or vegetable juice).
