Chlorella algae (Chlorella vulgaris), one of the oldest life forms on earth, once transformed the barren surface of the earth into a flourishing green landscape. In contrast to spirulina algae, it is a "real" plant form with cell walls made of cellulose. It is said to be the most highly concentrated plant food of all.
The microalgae, with a long tradition in Asia, consists of up to approx. 60 % plant protein and owes its green color to its high chlorophyll content.
Chlorella powder is ideally suited as an admixture for products in the
Our practical chlorella and chlorella-spirulina tablets are also available for daily use.
Chlorella ingredients | Chlorella consists of around 50-60% proteins with a good AAS (Amino Acid Score) and up to 5% chlorophyll, making it the most chlorophyll-rich plant of all. Chlorella also contains fiber, carotenoids, alpha-linolenic acid (an essential omega-3 fatty acid), β-1,3-glucan (an active immune stimulator and radical scavenger), salicylic acid, caffeic acid and e-cinnamic acid Chlorella also contains vitamins B1, B2, B6, niacin, folate, biotin, pantothenic acid, C, E, K, D2, bioavailable B12, α- and β-carotene, folate and a variety of minerals, such as iron and potassium (Potential of Chlorella as a Dietary Supplement to Promote Human Health, Tomohiro Bito et.al., 2020). The exact amounts of these ingredients may vary depending on the cultivation and processing conditions. |
Ingredients of spirulina | Spirulina sometimes contains well over 50% (based on dry weight) proteins, up to 17% phycobiliproteins (e.g. phycocyanin), gamma-linolenic acid (an essential omega-6 fatty acid), chlorophyll (approx. 1.2%), carotenoids (β-carotene), vitamin B12, minerals such as iron, calcium and phosphorus(Nutritional and toxicological aspects of Spirulina (Arthrospira)). The exact amounts of these ingredients can vary depending on the cultivation and processing conditions. |
Studies | Our aim is to use only carefully selected ingredients and to guarantee the highest quality standards. For legal reasons, we are not allowed to make any specific statements about the effects of our products or their ingredients. Chlorella algae grows far away from the hustle and bustle of the city with producers in the sunny Chinese province of Fujian. It is free from pesticides, herbicides and other toxins. The water in the cultivation ponds comes from deep within the earth and is carefully filtered before being used in algae cultivation.
The chlorella algae thrives excellently in the cultivation tanks. It is harvested as soon as the OD (optical density) grade meets the standard. The first chlorella harvest takes place after one to two months, after which it can be harvested at intervals of seven to ten days.
The wet chlorella mass is dried by spraying while constantly monitoring the initial and final temperature. In this process, chlorella drops are sprayed into a kind of chamber, causing the water they contain to evaporate in a flash. This method used by our producers enables the valuable nutrients in the chlorella algae to be almost completely preserved.
The chlorella and chlorella spirulina tablets are produced without additives or aids and in compliance with strict hygiene standards. Each batch is microbiologically tested for purity. They are then packed in vacuum-sealed aluminum bags.
Finally, the end product is tested in the laboratory and a reference sample is stored. Only after confirmation of compliance with the specified criteria is the product released for sale.
Algae are lower unicellular or multicellular plants that occur almost exclusively in water and are capable of photosynthesis. They are not actually plants because they have a simpler structure.
Algae are among the oldest living organisms on earth. They were the ones that enriched the atmosphere with oxygen many millions of years ago.
Chlorella vulgaris is a unicellular, spherical green algae. It is the best-known representative of the freshwater algae Chlorella, which roughly means "small young green". Over 100 species of Chlorella are scientifically differentiated. The chemical composition of the cell wall and differences in cell structure, for example, play a role here. However, the classification is still associated with many uncertainties. Scientific studies have shown that not all chlorella algae are the same. Cultivation methods and processing methods can have a decisive effect on their health relevance. Each producer has its own methods and procedures, which naturally affects the quality of the end product. The most commonly cultivated strains are Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa or sorokiana.
AFA algae are so-called cyanobacteria and grow wild and predominantly in Klamath Lake in the US state of Oregon. They cannot be cultivated or manipulated in any way. In order to survive the harsh winters, they settle at the bottom of the lake and overwinter there. As they have a very high content of omega-3 fatty acids, their cell walls remain flexible and do not burst. In contrast to green chlorella algae, AFA is blue-green. Chlorella, on the other hand, can, as we know, be cultivated and, depending on the cultivation and processing method, its health effects can be altered.
Chlorella is a green algae. It thrives exclusively in fresh water. Spirulina is a blue-green algae with a blue-green coloration. It occurs in both salt water and fresh water. Like chlorella, it is also cultivated in closed and open aquacultures. In contrast to spirulina algae, chlorella is a "real" plant form with cell walls made of cellulose. It is said to be the most highly concentrated plant food of all.
Chlorella vulgaris has long been recognized as a safe food by the European Food Safety Authority EFSA, as well as by the US Food and Drug Administration FDA.
