In the small village community of São João de Tupé with 120 inhabitants, we would like to provide children with a future-oriented education and meaningful leisure activities through monthly donations.
"Capoeira for children" is an encouraging project for the physical and mental development of children in the Brazilian rainforest. We have been supporting this successful project for years. A spark of hope.
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art - more of a combat dance - that was danced by African slaves during the colonial era. Having a place to belong, to dance, laugh and learn together - that is a ray of hope for the children in the jungle, who otherwise have little chance of a hopeful future.
Once a week, the kids gather in a ritual house. Everyone is welcome - origin and age don't matter. There are usually 20 children between the ages of 6 and 12. But there are even young people over the age of 20. The professional sports instructor Wilson Salsicha is already waiting for them. With lots of laughter and fun, he teaches them the basics of capoeira. Good body control alone is not enough. As a black belt in taekwondo, he also trains his troupe mentally: values relating to health and society are an essential part of the project, as they are valuable foundations for positive development and good life skills.
After training, everyone enthusiastically plunges into a nearby freshwater lake. Of course, this makes you hungry, so everyone has a convivial lunch. And then everyone waits impatiently for next week.
All participants in the Capoeira group receive food parcels of 10-20 kg 5 to 10 times a year. These donations are intended to ensure that the children and their families have access to vital resources that promote healthy growth and overall physical and mental development.
